Week 16: Wrapping it up

The social media platform I have enjoyed the most and that I feel is best suited for my business is Instagram. As a photographer, I thoroughly enjoy being able see, and be inspired by other great artists who share the same passion. It's even better that we can all share a common space to do just that and more. Instagram is not perfect, but it does serve its purposes and can be a powerful tool to help grow any business, especially one like mine that revolves primarily around visuals/images. But don't be fooled, creating and running a successful social media profile, especially on Instagram, is no walk in the park. Consistency, time, effort, and quality content are crucial for making it anywhere in the endless online social maze.

Prior to this class I was already a frequent Instagram user, using it to casually post samples of my photography for people to see. Now, after taking this course and observing other professional photographers habits on social media, I now find myself thinking more strategically when using Instagram. What I'm posting, when I'm posting, what the caption will be, and what hashtags to use are all things that run through my mind now when I think of posting.

Heading into the future I think the plan is to first and foremost become more consistent with posting, which would also mean that I would need to shoot frequently as well. And the more frequently I shoot, the better my work will become thus giving me better and better content to post. It's honestly funny how it all intertwines and loops together. As my knowledge grows and I gain more experience with social media, I know in the near future I'll get this dialed in and drive my business towards success.

    I've really enjoyed viewing your pictures and reading your blogs over this semester. You are a great photographer! I'm a senior in high school and many of the students could use senior photo sessions, so I would suggest running some ads on your Instagram account for those of us. Post some of your rates you could offer. I'm sure it would get a lot of interest. I look forward to seeing more of your work. Who knows? Maybe I will hire you to take mine!

Template Choice.

Why did I choose this blog template? As the rest of the class will surely know, there were plenty of options catering to different styles and aesthetics. So what it really came down to was choosing a template that reflected my own style and workflow. I definitely consider myself to be a tad minimalistic, so I wanted something that was simple, straight forward, and to the point. Week 3A Communication

In all my years of adulting (which aren't many), doing all the things that adults have to do like, pay bills, buy stuff, work, and then buy other stuff. I don't think I've ever had any trouble communicating with any brands or businesses, and I think social media has played a big role in why. In an age where anything can go viral in a matter of hours, it's easy for things to take a turn for the worst after the smallest slip up, especially for a business. So being able to resolve issues, and communicate clearly what those issues are with customers is very important for any business big or small.  I have a great example from personal experience that I'll share. Week 10: Being personal & Human Interest

How personal do you want to get? A question I personally ask myself when posting any of my art, and a question I still struggle with even now. Of course if your profile is personal, regardless of the platform, you can post whatever, whenever without caring. But when it comes to business, you'd better watch your step. Each business is different and has different needs, therefore how personable they can get on their social media depends on those needs, and of course their audience. For example I myself am the sole face/personality of my business therefore how personal I can get is completely up to my discretion. Adding some personality to posts I've found can help boost engagement with your audience and establish rapport which will ultimately lead to better business. Also having and creating a personality for yourself will help set you and your business apart especially if your doing business in a saturated market.
